About Me

“Yoga Therapy helps relieve pain!”

I found out that Yoga Therapy helps relieve pain from my own experience as a teacher and student. Yoga Therapy helped me relieve pain in my knees and lower back.

For most of my working life, I sat and did little exercise. So, when I retired in 2010, my doctor advised me to exercise or suffer the consequences of inactivity in later life. Not surprisingly, I noticed that my knees hurt when I climbed stairs and my lower back hurt while I was standing or sitting.

Thus I heeded my doctor’s advice and began taking yoga classes in 2011. I fell in love with yoga and began taking classes regularly. As I began to practice yoga consistently, my body began to heal and the knee and back pain subsided.

Paula Saddler , Certified Yoga Therapist (C-IAYT)

After practicing yoga as a diligent student for several years, I decided to become a teacher. I wanted to help others experience the benefits of yoga. I enrolled in a four-year program culminating in becoming certified as a yoga therapist in June 2020. For the first two years, I learned the foundations of Viniyoga. For the next two years, I learned yoga therapy. As part of yoga therapy training, I spent 150 hours working directly with clients.

What I love about Viniyoga is that it adapts yoga to fit the client’s needs. Viniyoga does not force clients to do poses that have little value for them. I was overjoyed when I graduated from the American Viniyoga Institute or AVI. I was proud to be an AVI graduate, which is directed by Gary Kraftsow, a renowned yoga therapist, and a founding member of the International Association of Yoga Therapists.

Since 2019 I have been teaching group classes to seniors in yoga and breath and meditation. I have successfully helped clients prepare for and recover from surgery as well as other conditions. You may view my teaching style to special needs groups by watching the video I did for the YWCA of White Plains and Central Westchester by clicking HERE.

My passion is doing and teaching breath and meditation, and I feel drawn to helping people experience the benefits of a quiet mind. In early 2023 I discovered the HeartMath organization which teaches people how to live from their heart. I enrolled in the Heart Coherence program and became certified as a trainer in November of 2023.

I passionately believe that one’s emotional state is just as important as their physical state in promoting and keeping good health. My goal is to help people experience a quiet mind while feeling better in body and mind. Yoga therapy and Heart Coherence fit beautifully together to help people be at their best in their body, mind, and soul.
